Type: Techno-Rock Albums: Kaleidoscope Superior (2000) These guys are awesome!!! Their first radio single "One Time" is one of my favorite songs. Check it out!
Let's Meet the Band CCM Magazine's CD Review on Kaleidoscope Superior:
The impressive burst of
creativity and imagination The band's post-hippie poetry is also quite impressive. "Whitehorse" and "Sky Flashings" survey apocalyptic imagery. "Wonder" and "Against the Grain" challenge the listener to an uncompromising walk with Christ, again using provocative and unconventional lyrics and arrangements. This captivating approach makes Kaleidoscope Superior a most satisfying listening experience. |

An Interview with Earthsuit by Guest Editor- Rebecca St.James I remember well the day I first heard the name Earthsuit. I was in the middle of a songwriting session for my new album when I became distracted by what I was hearing from the next room. Sparrow Records was previewing a new five-piece, New Orleans-based band called Earthsuit, and they rocked! I was excited to interview a couple of the guys and get the scoop behind some of the freshest music I’ve heard in a long time. —Rebecca St. James, guest editor St. James: I know that every song happens differently, but tell me about some of the ways your songs are inspired.
St. James: Tell me about one of my favorite songs on Kaleidoscope Superior… "Said the Sun to the Shine." LaClave: "Said the Sun" is kind of like an allegorical type of song. We just related it to the great commission—God speaking to us as His carriers, carriers of light. St. James: I know you’ve been heavily involved with the Slam Camp youth camp in Lafayette, La., for a while now. What impacts you about that event? Paul Meany (keyboards/backing vocals): Well,
one St. James: Our generation is desperately in need of hope. What gives you hope? Meany: What gives me hope is God’s grace. We don’t have to be perfect, and we don’t have to have it all together to do something meaningful with our lives and have God use us in an incredible way. He kind of looks for people who are flawed in a sense and don’t have it all together, so He can inject His nature into the whole and He gets the glory. And that’s awesome to be a part of that process and that’s what we try to convey to kids: Don’t be discouraged by what you can’t do, but [let it] inspire you in giving at least what you have to God to accomplish things beyond what you could ever think you could do. That definitely gives us hope.
